Rolex Air King
A part of the Oyster Perpetual line, it is the least expensive wristwatch in the Rolex collection, and if you are a military aviation buff, you might want to wear this watch just for the historical value it represents.
Rolex created a timeless watch when they released the Air King in 1957 at the watch fair in Basel, Switzerland. The Air King is part of the Oyster Perpetual line of Rolex timepieces, and is fitted with an Oyster case and an Oyster bracelet, common to the Oyster Perpetual watches.

The Rolex Air King
Adding to the classic style of the watch is the writing on the dial that says Air-King, just under the Rolex logo. The standard Air King comes in 34mm, and without a date.
During World War II Rolex was a very popular watch maker among British pilots. The Air-King was created with the pilot in mind and its basic design is reminiscent of the period, when materials were scarce and fancy decorations were not practical. Pilots valued the watch for its durability and water resistance. John McCain, the senator from Arizona and ex military pilot, wore a Rolex Air King during his presidential campaign in 2008.
The simple but elegant design of the Rolex Air King usually features single bars for the numbers except in the 3, 6 and 9 position, and the famous Rolex crown logo at the 12 position that is so recognizable to lovers of fine watches the world over. The Air King may also come with no numbers and only the single bars on the dial.
The Rolex Air King can be found in many different styles and colors. Some of the timepieces are fitted with jewels on the face but the classic look and unpretentious design is usually what the wearer of an Air King is going for. If you’re looking for a watch that adds style to your wardrobe but won’t break the bank then the Air King is the Rolex watch for you.
